Interview with Morgan Shamy, author of The Redpoint Crux

Can you tell us a little about your book?

THE REDPOINT CRUX is about seventeen-year-old Megan Van Helsburg who gets kicked off the U.S.A. climbing team. With no money and no prospects, she joins the corps de ballet to improve her strength and agility. But a series of murders break loose, and the ballerinas around her are becoming deathly thin and brain dead. Megan meets a young man who lives beneath the theater, and together they must solve the mystery of the murders before she becomes a ghost herself.

 When does your book release?

Release date is June 9th, 2020!

 What’s your writing process like?

I write every morning at a designated time. Having a routine helps me push out the words at a quicker pace. I don’t like to plot out the story in advance—I prefer to discover the story on my own as I write it. It’s more magical that way!

What piece of advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Don’t stop. No matter how difficult it gets—no matter how agonizing it is to continue, push forward. The story in your heart NEEDS to be told, and it will be beautiful and reach its full potential if you never stop trying.

 What are you currently reading?

I’m reading an unpublished (soon to be published) novel by my friend, Jolene Perry. She is so talented!

Bio:

Morgan Shamy is an ex-ballerina turned YA writer. She has been immersed
in the arts since the young age of 4, and has performed various roles alongside a professional ballet company, dancing on prestigious stages like soloing at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Morgan discovered writing when her three-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer. It was through that experience which instilled the need to share art and magic with children through words on the page. Her debut novel, The Redpoint Crux, releases on June 9th, 2020.
